When we first moved here the sun would dare to make an appearance at least 1-2 days a week for at least an hour or so during the day, spoiling all of their fun. We took full advantage of any sunny moments and also learned to enjoy the company of the cloudy, drizzly – yet cozy - dreary-makers. Then September came...and I don't think we've seen the sun since. The dreary makers must have scared it off for good, this time. Our only sightings have been for a brief 1-2 minutes at sunset when it will sometimes slip discreetly from its cloud cover before quickly diving into the sea. We found out today that the sun will come out in mid-November and stay out almost all day, every day throughout the "summer" (though it's hard to nail down seasons when you're sitting on the equator!) The down side: we are leaving in mid-November to head for Texas, where it will be cold.
On a bright note, Geoff was given a nickname back during his long-haired days - Sunshine! So even without the warm rays from the sky l still have Sunshine in my life (awww)! Sunshine, this blog is dedicated to you; thanks for being such a bright spot in my life, no matter the weather!
The sun apparently got word of this blog when I drafted it yesterday, and did NOT want to be so publicly humiliated. Guess who came out to play today!!!! Yes, dear sun scared off the dreary-makers this morning and is bright and beautiful in the sky! I just can't communicate how incredible its warm rays feel on our skin or how nice it is to have a BRIGHT, sunny day! There are still lots of clouds, but I'm counting on at least a few hours of partly-sunny today! Wooohoooooo!!!
