Long story short, he continued his medical education, completed med-school and residency (courting and marrying Amber in the process), and now nurse Amber and Dr. Kent are a super-duper medical mission duo. Look out world, HE's flying them to you with Healing in His Wings.
Kent finished his residency this spring and rather than taking a "real" job for a couple years and making some good money, they're diving straight into the medical mission field. That was the goal all along. That was why they went to school, and choose their medical professions. They stuck to it and those dreams are becoming a reality today. If that's not inspiring I don't know what is. I can't even fathom that kind of commitment to a specific vision and can testify to the enormous sacrifice and obstacles they've overcome to make this dream come True. Praise GOD.
Most of the family said goodbye to these four last weekend. Geoff and I stalled. It's what we do. Alas, we finally had to make the trek on Saturday and face reality.
They were enjoying a camp-out with friends in Mineral Wells so we headed up en route to Amarillo and stopped in for a few precious moments with them.
For the record - it's easier to be the ones leaving than the ones left behind. Just want to admit that for the benefit of our parents and family who have said these goodbyes to us in the past.
But this one is a little different. A little harder, I think. Not only are they going a LONG way, but they're taking my niece and nephew with them. I'm a little put out about this.
It's not that I don't think they should take their children. It's just that I want little hugs and loves from these two more often than Liberia's location allows. A four-and-a-half Ruby and nearly 3-year-old Stephen will change quite a bit in two years.
Please pray for them today. For Kent, Amber, Ruby, and Stephen. As they travel, as they see their new home for the first time, as they figure out all the necessary life details that are so drastically different in new environments and cultures. Pray for Hope, Peace, and above all, LOVE. In JESUS name.
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
