The movie finally ended and we arrived, once again, in Ecuador's largest city; Guayaquil. After a taxi ride to the hostel where we are staying, we found a light lunch at a juice bar before I had to say goodbye to Geoff as he headed to the airport. His sister, Caryn, is flying in to see us today and we are SO excited. FIRST, because we love Caryn and can't wait to see her, and second, because she's bringing goodies from the states for us!!! However, we miscommunicated about the best place to fly in and she is arriving into Quito, which is a 13 hour bus ride from our house instead of the 3 hour to Guayaquil. We are looking forward to seeing Quito and touring that area of the country when we drop her off for her return flight next week, but decided to fly her into Guayaquil on her inbound trip to save some precious time NOT commuting to and from Quito!
Ecuador is a beautiful country but you do have to pay attention to stay safe and Geoff's beautiful, redheaded sister, travelling alone is just not a good idea here! So, her chivalrous big brother is at this moment on his way to airport where he is catching a flight to Quito. He will pick her up and they will take the 50 minute flight back here to Guayaquil tonight. In country flights are relatively cheap, and we will break about even on what we would have spent in the more expensive capital city on hotels, transport, food...and TIME!
It's the first time Geoff and I have been in different cities from each other in a long time! I was kind of enjoying the streak of togetherness! Not to mention that the whole flying thing increasingly stresses me out...a real problem for someone passionate about world travel! So please pray for safe travels for them as they commute to and from Quito to get back here to ME as I wait, somewhat anxiously, for their arrival. Thanks!
