Last night was probably the highlight of our week. After spending time with the kids at the orphanage Wednesday afternoon, Fatima asked if we could return for a special dinner that night at 8:30. We were more than honored to accept the invitation.
We arrived at the front gate, and were greeted by two of the sweetest little girls, who had some elaborate Christmas cards they had made and gave to us. Their job was to greet and escort us to the main house where we would eat dinner. After hugging them goodnight, we were welcomed in full fashion by Fatima and many of the ladies who have given their lives to caring for the kids at the orphanage, day in and day out. They had even worked hard to create a welcome sign for us that was in English - very impressive.
Puerto Cayo is gorgeous. It has a beautiful stretch of beach, similar to "ours" near Olon, but with even more of the rolling hills and lush green stretching into the ocean providing a fantastic view and sheltered beach. We've been through Puerto Cayo in the past, but never stopped to explore and it was great to have that experience.
In the picture to the left you can see our traditional welcome, whoever sees us first excitedly grabbing an arm and yelling to Fatima that we've arrived. It's the good life.
For now, we've got another walk on the beach to get in before we must say goodbye to this place.
