Geoff and Caryn's flight to Guayaquil from Quito was delayed for 2 hours. After some interesting cultural experiences they finally arrived at the hostel after midnight...not prime time for Carrolls! I was really glad to see them, though, and thankful they didn't get stuck in Quito for the night!
We spent a little time walking around Guayaquil, visited a small street market, and then began our journey back to our beloved coast! We were excited to show Caryn around and to hear how it compared to her experiences in Guatemala...apparently it's a little different here!
We made it back to our house, and gave Caryn a grand tour. As you can see in the photo below, I think she will fit in great here. She even caught a few waves on the boogie board with Geoff before dinner!
After dinner we couldn't wait any longer and got to the much anticipated event...opening presents!!! We were really excited about our new treasures but made ourselves wait till we got home to really delve in...though we did peak in Guayaquil. We have everything and more than we need in Ecuador to survive but there are always those little things you miss from your homeland. Important things. Like strawberry sour belts. YUM.
We had requested some specific items from my parents and they sent a suitcase full of amazing resources! I now have spices for cooking! Our beans and lentils will never be the same! Caryn also brought us lots of surprises and gifts from Geoff's sister, Amber. We were OVERWHELMED! She packed light and still brought two awesome pillows with her! I have missed good pillows and my neck feels better this morning than it has in a long time. So. Happy.
